Universal Designed "Smart" Homes for the 21st Century.
Enjoy the articles and I am honored to have contributed.
EP/Exceptional Parent Magazine, is a magazine for parents with children who have different needs. Mr. Schwab contributed to EP since 2003 and still contributes to the magazine from time to time. This is my favorite of all children resources for kids with all different needs. Every month is a great resource and offers immense value.
PN Magazine (Paraplegia News) is the official magazine of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. I am honored to have contributed bi-monthly to the magazine in the Around the House column from 2009- 2017. The new editor introduced a new author for the Around the House column. But the column is still there and Mr. Mark Thompson Architect is writing outstanding articles so do visit PN. Learn more at www.pvamagazines.com

See below for contact info. The article titled America's First Universal Design "Smart"Home, A Call to action for a new $20,000 tax credit for Universal Designhomes and remodelsJuly 2009,Charles M. Schwab, .PGS. 24-28 .
This article was published prior in 2009.The article examines combining long term healthcare savings in Medicaid and Medicare with job creation by building UD/Inclusive home remodels and new home construction . The home pictured below is the house design by Mr. Schwab illustrated and explained in the article. It is a net zero home (it generates its own energy) with geo-thermal heating, active and passive solar design and insulated concrete form (ICF) construction. These features are combined with universal designed features for lifetime and retirement living. It was completed in 2012 after the magazine article was published. Note: The jack and jill powder room door swings out, (not in as the erroneous color drawing shows).
This home was designed by Mr.Schwab and built in Vernal Utah, a very arid climate.
This is the home featured in the article below. It is Universal Design,Geo-Thermal,Passive and Active Solar and built with Insulated Concrete Foundation/Walls.
No Place Like Home, PN magazine Oct 2012, This article is really a shortened version of the tax credit idea as noted in the article below but it cuts right to the chase. A lifetime housing tax credit could save the US billions of dollars in long term health care costs.
Please see the original more detailed article above:That article (above) was the first to explore the home healthcare incentive that proposes staying at home and with tele-healthcare and independent living.
